Saturday 4/30/2022 the Miss Chugiak/Eagle River Scholarship Program hosted the 2022 Miss Chugiak/Eagle River Competition in the University of Alaska Anchorage Mainstage Theater.


Following the national anthem sung by Miss Alaska’s Outstanding Teen Sycely Wheeles 2022, the Miss Chugiak-Eagle River, and Miss Chugiak/Eagle River Outstanding Teen candidates took the stage to introduce themselves. Miss Anchorage’s Outstanding Teen Christiana Jimenez and Miss Alaska Elle Adkins asked the candidates their on-stage questions.

Your new Miss Chugiak/Eagle River 2022, 19-year-old Alyssa Adams will be competing in the Miss Alaska Competition June 16, 2022 at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Anchorage, with your new Miss Chugiak/Eagle River’s Outstanding Teen Jasmine Frederick competing for the title of Miss Alaska’s Outstanding Teen.

For her talent presentation, Alyssa performed an original spoken word poem.

Jasmine played Violin for her talent presentation.

Competition awards for Miss Candidates included an Overall Talent award to Alyssa Adams, and an Onstage Question and Social Impact Initiative award also going to Alyssa.

Competition awards for Teen Candidates included an Overall Talent award to Marisol Magaña, and a Fitness award going to Jasmine Frederick.

Non-Competitive awards voted on by the candidates included Miss Congeniality Alyssa Adams.

The distinguished panel of judges included:

Sarah Baker: Miss Chugiak/Eagle River 2008, Real Estate Entrepreneur and Realtor at eXp Realty.

Katy (Lovegreen) Bishoff: Miss Alaska 2011, Anchorage School District Teacher.

George Lochner: Retired as Chief Marketing Officer from Matanuska Valley Federal Credit Union, former Alaska State Fair board member, Chugiak/Eagle River Chamber of Commerce board member emeritus, “Finding Sacred Spaces” Pilgrim.

JoEllen Walters: former Miss Birchwood Outstanding Teen and competitor in various pageants, Anchorage School District Teacher.

Auditor: Ovi Sofron: Finance Manager at Copper River Seafoods.

The Miss Chugiak/Eagle River Program could not happen without the support of volunteers such as these.
