Miss Chugiak/Eagle River Scholarship Program was held February 8th, 2020 at Earl R. Brown Auditorium at the Alaska Pacific University.


A total of 7 Miss Candidates and a total of 6 Teen Contestants competed for a total of 4 titles - Miss Chugiak Eagle/River, Miss Chugiak/Eagle River’s Outstanding Teen, Miss Birchwood, and Miss Birchwood’s Outstanding Teen.


The total amount of scholarships awarded was $8,475!


23-year old Cara Chapman was crowned Miss Chugiak/Eagle River 2020. Cara’s platform is called “Take Back Alaska” and she performed a Science Experiment to “Let It Go”.


22-year old Jordan Naylor was crowned Miss Birchwood 2020. Jordan’s platform is “Back 2 Basics: Promoting Health and Wellness”. Jordan performed a musical theater dance routine to a “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend”.


16-year old Alexis McBain was crowned Miss Chugiak/Eagle River’s Outstanding Teen 2020. Lexi’s platform is called “La Vita e Bella (Alzheimer’s Awareness)” and performed a vocal rendition “Smile” by Nat King Cole.

13-year old Christiana Jimenez was crowned Miss Birchwood’s Outstanding Teen 2020. Christiana’s platform is called “Beat the Winter Blues”. Christiana performed a vocal rendition “Popular” from the musical Wicked.


Everyone who competed was awarded a scholarship that could be used towards school tuition, books, and student loans.

Established in 1973, the Miss Chugiak/Eagle River Scholarship Organization provides opportunities for young women to achieve their personal and professional ambitions. Contestants also participate in community service activities and develop leadership skills that help them excel in their chosen career and life goals. Winners of the annual Miss Chugiak/Eagle River Scholarship Competition are eligible to compete in the Miss Alaska competition.
